Inspiring Ideas and Something New
Firstly, thank you to those who came to the recent Taster Evening at the hall. I hope you agree that it was interesting to listen to the presentations about potential future shows, and the Leonardo workshops. We hope that next time around more members will feel motivated to put forward shows that you love and would like to see possibly performed on our stage. There was a good amount of interest from the audience regarding the proposed workshopping of a brand new musical, Leonardo, written by two professional Canadian artists Peter Sipos and Tony Calabretta (contacts of Martin’s). We propose beginning the audition process and workshops in early November, so an audition and information pack will be issued in due course. If successful, this could lead to a full scale performance of the show, which would be a world first!
Nativity
Rehearsals for Nativity are now in full swing. We are looking for chaperones to look after the children in the show, so if you or anyone you know has a chaperone licence and is available during show week (10th – 13th December) please let us know. Tickets are available now from our website.
A Curious Launch
Coming up on Friday 3rd October, at 8pm, is the launch night for ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’. You should already have received an audition/information pack by email. If not, please contact me.
Our Christmas Show
Looking further ahead, Hannah Robinson is hosting a charity event at Thalian Hall on Friday 19th December, entitled ‘Magical Moments of Music’. Please put this date in your diary as December is a busy time and we would not want you to miss this extravaganza, especially as proceeds will be going towards Cancer charities. More details to follow.
Lastly, The Thalian Theatre Company would like to announce that Andy Barker has agreed to be Technical Director for the society. We want to acknowledge the huge amount of time and expertise that Andy gives to our society – we are very lucky to have him and consequently want to ensure that he has a say in all things technical, be it show or non show related.
With our exciting 2026 season of shows (and beyond) now published, the Thalian Theatre Company is in a very good place and is going from strength to strength. Thank you for your continued support and for getting involved, be it on stage or off. I know that members also appreciate being supported when ‘playing away’ with other societies, so let’s keep sharing the love! There will also be more social events to look forward to for members, families and friends, following on from our successful quiz night recently.
