Who we are, what we do and why.
We are a group of like-minded people who love to perform. There are a wide range of talented people who, when put together have been putting on shows since 1929 which leaves just 3 years years until we reach our centenary year! We rehearse on Mondays and Thursday evenings (8pm – 10pm). Rehearsals are great fun and are just as fulfilling as the show itself. Read more about us, the society and how you can get involved.
If you would like to meet us, please either get in touch with us or come along to an evening rehearsal to check us out. We are always looking for volunteers to help with costumes, set design, promotions and much more, we would be grateful for any contribution that you could make.

Set in Sheffield, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a vibrant, funny and inspiring musical about finding the courage to be yourself. Sixteen-year-old Jamie New dreams of becoming a drag queen, but life at school isn’t always easy. Faced with prejudice, self-doubt and the pressures of fitting in, Jamie decides to follow his heart and step into the spotlight.
With the support of his loving mum, loyal friends and a colourful mentor from the local drag scene, Jamie embarks on a journey of self-discovery, confidence and acceptance. Along the way he learns that being different is something to celebrate, not hide.
Packed with catchy songs, dazzling costumes and plenty of humour, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a joyous coming-of-age story that champions individuality, friendship and the importance of daring to dream. It’s a feel-good musical that leaves audiences cheering for Jamie every step of the way.

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you and thank you for supporting the Thalian Theatre Company (formally The Welwyn Thalian Society). We took the opportunity in 2022 to have a think about our name and what it stands for and we thought that the Thalian Theatre Company sums us up best. You may also have noticed that we have a new logo which reflects our history, with our centenary approaching in 2029!
If you haven’t already, please sign up to become a Friend of Thalians so that we can send you our Newsletter from time to time and if you would like notification of auditions for our upcoming shows, this in an ideal way to keep in touch.
I would like too to encourage anyone who does not wish to tread the boards, but would like help out with behind-the-scene activities such as set design and or build, costumes, makeup, props, front of house etc, to get in touch. We would love to hear from you.
