£550 Donation to Blood Cancer UK

On Monday 6th March 2023, we were privileged to hand over a cheque for £550 to Peter Aknai, the Chairman of the Ware branch of Blood Cancer UK. The money was raised through our performance of Calendar Girls last October.

Peter informed us that the money will be used for medical and scientific research to improve the outcome for the many sufferers of this group of diseases. He mentioned that there are around 200,000 people living with one of the 136 varieties of blood cancer, and childhood leukaemia is the most common among young children. In the last 50 years however survival rates have jumped from less than 5% to over 90% among these children, and this is thanks to the generosity of fundraisers.
